I am a Vermonter. This small state has miles of winding, rural roads, with wonderful sights around every corner. As I explore my state I take a lot of photos. When I begin a painting I choose one of my travel photos and translate it into shape, color and light.
I am most fond of old barns and images of the golden hour when the colors verge toward blue and orange.
I paint on 6.25 x 6.25 x 2.5 wooden panels-a deep, square format. I paint with creamy, luscious Holbein Acryla Gouache paints, then I seal the surface with Windsor-Newton matte varnish so that the colors remain true but still protected. There is no need for framing, these are painted on all 4 edges and can hang on a single nail.
They make a small but powerful impact in your room.
