I painted this serene watercolor of a loon and two chicks swimming against a colorful, leafy backdrop. In the painting, I highlighted the leaves, waterlily, and lettering with gold and silver and I add hand-painted silver accents to my giclees so they look like originals.
I have hand-lettered this quote: " There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings."
The quote is from William Hodding Carter, II (February 3, 1907 – April 4, 1972), a Southern U.S. progressive journalist and author.
This giclee is printed on 300 lb. acid and lignin-free watercolor paper with archival inks.
This is an edition of 100.
I inscribe each print with the title "Roots and Wings", the edition number, and my signature in pencil.
