An old farm high in the Green Mountains became a part of the Middlebury College Campus over 100 years ago.
The original mountain and forest area in which the campus is located was willed to Middlebury College in 1915 by Joseph Battell, breeder of Morgan horses, proprietor of the local newspaper, and spirited lover of nature.
Now the Bread Loaf Campus is home to the Bread Loaf School of English and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference for their regular academic programs in June, July, and August.
This view is of the sprawling Inn, and the long mountain ridge that rises behind it, as seen from from a meadow to the north.
I painted this with gouache on 100% cotton rag Arches Cover Paper and I print on the same paper with archival inks.
I sign, title and number each print in pencil. I can add a personalization if you ask for one in your comments.
The finished image is 10.5" x 13.5" on a total paper size of 13" x 16"
