The collage illustrations for Compost Stew: An A to Z Recipe for the Earth, are made with numerous delicate materials: painted, found, folded and torn papers, photos, netting, coffee grounds, tea bags, pressed insects, nut and egg shells and seaweed. All held together with archival glue!
These materials are potentially perishable, so photographing the finished piece while it is completely intact seemed like the best plan.
The collages were photographed with skillful lighting, so the dimensional qualities and cast shadows of the layers of paper and other materials is amazingly true to life.
You will have a hard time telling these from the originals, but these prints, on 300 lb,100% cotton, acid free watercolor paper and printed with colorfast inks are made to last.
