I am a Vermonter. This small state has miles of winding, rural roads, with wonderful sights around every corner. As I explore my state I take a lot of photos. When I begin a painting I choose one of my travel photos and translate it into shape, color and light.
I am most fond of old barns, seasonal events like this, and images of the golden hour when the colors verge toward blue and orange.
I paint on 8" x 8" wooden panels with creamy, luscious Holbein Acryla Gouache paints, then I seal the surface with Windsor-Newton matte varnish so that the colors remain true but still protected. The sides are part of the painting. These 3-D objects can stand on a shelf or easily hang from a single nail.
